Yoga Classes for Kids

Classes are held on Saturdays at Symmetry:

  . Mini All-Star Yogiz (ages 7-10) 12:30 - 1:15 p.m.
  . All-Star Yogiz (ages 11 & up) 1:30 - 2:15 p.m.

To practice yoga is the balancing of both the body and the mind by use of breath and movement through the physical body. In children's yoga class, we practice different postures and breathing exercises to help their bodies become healthier, stronger and more relaxed. Yoga postures stimulate children's imaginations and improve their physical and neurological skills. The use of poses and stretches promote strength, flexibility, coordination and balance. Breathing and visualization techniques help children to focus, relax and develop self-control. Yoga for children is a positive, non-competitive physical activity which lends room for self-esteem to grow.

Each class will:
  - Stimulate the imagination
  - Incorporate movement and breathing
  - Be creative and engaging
  - Be challenging and fun
  - End with relaxation

Benefits of yoga:
. Increases concentration leading to better focus and awareness
  . Fosters social interaction
. Helps one to explore self-reflection
. Cultivates a relaxed state in body and mind
  . Builds confidence and self-esteem
. Acquires personal tools for stress management

The instructor for the classes will be Nadia Mair, Licensed Massage Therapist, Personal Trainer, Vinyasa Practitioner and Certified kids yoga instructor.

Nadia has always enjoyed sports and grew up playing competitive sports in basketball and field hockey. She continued her love of athleticism after college by incorporating hiking as a regular weekend activity, so it comes as no surprise that she has chosen a career in health and fitness.

Nadia has been a massage practitioner for over seven years and has worked in various locations throughout the tri-state area including but not limited to spas, rehabilitation centers, hospitals and sports clubs. As a massage therapist, she has encountered an array of ailments and has incorporated her knowledge of the body, mind and spirit into helping others.

Nadia infuses her love of music in all of her work and you will experience a workout focused on strength and flexibility with an emphasis on breath and laughter.

Yoga can lead kids on the path towards a calm and balanced mind as well as help them to become strong and flexible.
